Why HR Managers?

On this blog I would like to ask why HR managers needed in an organization ? Are they needed for Recruitment ? Are they needed for payroll management ? Are

they needed for appraisel ? All these things can be outsourced as well, then why we need an HR manager in organization itself ? What role does they play for

organization ? What are their objectives? Let see..

HR Management includes :-

1) Procurment – It includes selection , recruitment , induction and placement.
2) Maintainence – It includes Appraisel, Salary management, weflare and society
3) Development – Training development, career planning,learning, growth opportunities are needed here
4) Retention – Belongingness, Relationship management.

Lets categorize the objectives of HR Management:-

1) Organization objectives – HRM needed to assist the ogranization primary objectives. Its main role is in bringing about the organizational effectiveness
2) Personal Objectives – Here they assist employees in achieving their personal goals and enhancing the individual contribution to the organization.
3) Functional objectives – To maintain department contribution at a level appropriate to the organisation needs. At the same time it should not become too expensive at the cost of the organisation.
4) Social objectives – Ethically and socially responsible to the needs and challenges of society while minimizing the negative impacts of such demand on the organization.

By looking above we can conlude the HR manager objective is to meet organizational objectives effectively WITH EMPLOYEE WELFARE. Does in all companies we see employee welfare? How many companies shows concern to the development of employees ?

Best examples of companies having a great HR policies are TCS, Wipro, Toyota.

So who is good HR manager?. First of all HR mangers should have basic qualities which is required to perform HR functions which are :-

1) Empathy
2) Flexible
3) Fair
4) Good Listener

Good HR manager should perform following functions :-

1) To improve services rendered by the organization
2) To create and utilize an able and motivated workforce, to establish the basic organizational goals
3) To recognize and satisfy individual and group needs by providing adequate and equitable wages, benefits, social security, challenging work and prestige
4) To employ the skills and knowledge of employees efficiently and effectively
5) To strengthen and appreciate the human assets continuously
6) To maintain high employee morale and sound human relations
7) To enhance job satisfaction and self actualization of employees
8) To provide facilities and conditions of work and creation of favorable atmosphere
9) To recognize and satisfy individual needs and group needs
10) To develop and maintain a quality of work life which makes employment in organization a desirable personal and social situation.

HR managers can ask themselves are they performing above functions and effectively ?

Rate yourself as HR manager in relation with above functions

Lastly, If you have seen what I have written there is no word TERMINATION included in HRM but now a days that is what we see most ;)
